plugging muna

TUWING LUNES AT MARTES NG GABI

Tuwing Lunes at Martes ng gabi
Magandang pumunta sa Conspiracy
Bagay sa mga guro at estudyante
At mga matatalinong taga UP hehe

Alas sais ng Lunes may Malaynilay
Usaping lipunan at buhay-buhay
Linangan ng practice at theory
Ng Communitarian Democracy

Alas dyes ng Lunes kalimitan
Si Gary Granada ang aabutan
Masarap din minsan pakinggan
Huwag lang masyadong titignan

Writers' Night naman tuwing Martes
Mga kaek ekan ng petiburges (hihi)
Manunula, manunulat, litterateur
Saboteur, provocateur, amateur!

At sa mga walang hilig sa klase
Alas singko pa lang bukas na kami
Malamig na beer sa mainit na ulo
Ang krusipeho sa kwatro at singko

Ayaw nyo ba ng pulitika at poetry?
Hayy.. ang hirap hirap mangumbinsi
Kaya tuwing Lunes at Martes ng gabi
Libre ang entrance sa Conspiracy!

butt wait!

finally joined the bandwagon. went to play badminton yesterday. my first time to play the game, and my first attempt at a sport again since july of 2003.

i didn't do so bad. my reflexes kicked in when needed, and i didn't embarrass the person who invited me.

but hell. my whole body hurts. muscles which i had forgotten existed are currently screaming for attention. my butt throbs everytime i take a step. and my back punishes me everytime i so much as slouch.

so there. it was a good day, though. this sport is similar to volleyball, footwork and arm movement-wise. i missed the movement, and the sweating.

i might do it again. in the meantime, however, -- must.. pamper...butt. :)

happy birthday bareyns!!!

yesterday i woke up really early to greet a friend of mine happy birthday.

me: good morning bareyns! happy birthday!
her: (sounding all thick and sleepy) huh?
me: happy birthday!
her: that's tomorrow sweetie...
me: (sounding terribly stupid) what date is your birthday?
her: the 20th.
me: but it's the 20th! what date is it today again? (again, sounding stupid)
her: the 19th.
me: really? i don't have a deadline!
her: i'm going back to sleep now.
me: sowi.

anyways, greeted her at midnight last night and i got it right. i guess i'm really severely out of sorts for me to lose track of dates.

bareyns is my sister's very good friend. and as is practically always the case in my family, we ended up sharing friends.

she's been a great friend to me, always ready to listen, and ready to tell me i'm being horrifyingly stupid, without fear of getting estranged. she loves my cooking, and tells me so. actually... she is quite good for my ego. :)

seriously though, there were many times when she pulled me through the slumps i found myself in.

thank you bareyns. we all got lucky. :) and someday, when you go back to far far away.... hehehe. kidding. wuvs you.

random thoughts while starving and waiting for my sister to arrive

1. there is a limit to the number of strands of noodles you can twirl around a fork.
2. people get disconcerted when other people change hairstyles.
3. nothing beats seeing somebody's face light up when he sees you.
4. spaghetti with lots of butter is not good on an empty stomach.
5. no matter how tired you are, there's always enough strength left for beer.
6. bad tasting food will aid you in your diet.
7. i finally figured out what the muffled recorded message being played along escalators says: "please watch your step"
8. good looking men are few and far between. sigh.
9. i need a new knapsack.
10. going commando has its pros and cons.
11. you can never go wrong with pen and paper.
12. contact lenses clear up when you sweat.

more when i get bored.

magnetic poetry

got myself a magnetic poetry set when i went to singapore. this is my first attempt at mixing and matching words. posted on my cubicle wall.

some feet away
a frantic drunk girl
drives over the road to eternity.
above her
the shadowed moonless sky
whispers,
why.

Your EQ is

140

50 or less: Thanks for answering honestly. Now get yourself a shrink, quick!

51-70: When it comes to understanding human emotions, you'd have better luck understanding Chinese.

71-90: You've got more emotional intelligence than the average frat boy. Barely.

91-110: You're average. It's easy to predict how you'll react to things. But anyone could have guessed that.

111-130: You usually have it going on emotionally, but roadblocks tend to land you on your butt.

131-150: You are remarkable when it comes to relating with others. Only the biggest losers get under your skin.

150+: Two possibilities - you've either out "Dr. Phil-ed" Dr. Phil... or you're a dirty liar.

i almost never got bornded!

today i found out that my parents almost didn't marry. apparently, the day my mom and dad got married was the day my mom was supposed to enter the convent, and the day my dad was supposed to go gallivanting around the world with a cousin or friend.

hmmm. i wonder how things would have worked out had their respective plans gone through. i wouldn't be blogging about it, that's for sure. my mom would probably be mother superior by now, and my dad the father of several children, no two of them belonging to the same mother. (my dad was a sly one back then, you see.)

and i wouldn't be here.

still, years of my heartaches and laments and all.... i'm glad they got married and decided to have eight children (i'm baby number 8) and that i'm alive. like wolf likes to say --right here. right now.

:)

excuse me?

talked to another citibank agent.

me: hi. i would like to pay my account in full. do i get a discount if i do?
her: sorry ma'am but we only give discounts to those who have payment arrangements with us.
me: you mean i have to be delinquent to be able to get a discount?
her: yes ma'am, if you see it that way.

so let me get this straight. there is no premium at all if i'm a good customer, but i will get a discount if i don't pay for a couple of months and make a settlement with them.

is it just me or is there something terribly wrong with their customer service?

post year analysis

another year has passed. and this is all i have to say:

may this year be better. the last one almost did me in.
